Doula?
A doula is a non-clinical support person, who will help ensure that her client has a satisfying birthing experience. Your doula will provide a supportive and reassuring environment to the mother and her support partner. They will assist the mother and her partner develop a birthing plan, make visits during postpartum, attend your labor and make postnatal visits. The doula may make suggestions for labor progress, relaxation, massage, positioning and other natural techniques for comfort and progression of labor. We incorporate these techniques to support you and your support partner during postpartum, birth and prenatal. Your doula draws upon their knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor.
Doulas are widely recognized for their support assisting the birthing woman or couple. This support can decrease the length of labor, decrease the severity of perceived pain, decrease the need for anesthesia or analgesia, and can help prevent cesarean section. A mother who receives support usually has a positive birth experience that enhances her postpartum period. As a Certified Lactation Counselor, your doula will work with the family to ensure that they have a memorable breastfeeding experience. Your doula is also a certified encapsulator so be sure to let them know during your prenatal visits that you are interested in encapsulation and creating artistic keepsakes.
